Symmetries, Generalized Numbers and Harmonic Laws

چکیده
This paper is devoted to the presentation and analysis of matrix representations of the genetic code. Principal attention is paid to a family of the genetic matrices which are constructed on the basis of Gray code ordering of their rows and columns. This Gray code ordering reveals new connections of the genetic code to: 8dimensional bipolar algebras; Hadamard matrices; golden matrices; Pythagorean musical scale, and an integer triangle attributed to Nicomachus, a Syrian mathematician from second century A.D. All of these mathematical entities possess symmetrical features. Some questions about silver means and Pythagorean triples are also described by these genetic matrices and their generalizations.

By a conservation law we mean a quantity constructed from the coordinates, velocities, accelerations, etc. of the system that does not change as the system evolves in time. When the equations of motion are second order, conservation laws typically arise as functions on the velocity phase (possibly with explicit time dependence). Conservation of energy, momentum and angular momentum are familiar...
متن کاملGeneralized Reciprocity Laws for Sums of Harmonic Numbers
We present summation identities for generalized harmonic numbers, which generalize reciprocity laws discovered when studying the algorithm quickselect. Furthermore, we demonstrate how the computer algebra system Sigma can be used in order to find/prove such identities. We also discuss alternating harmonic sums, as well as limiting relations.
متن کاملA Diffusion Equation with Exponential Nonlinearity Recant Developments
The purpose of this paper is to analyze in detail a special nonlinear partial differential equation (nPDE) of the second order which is important in physical, chemical and technical applications. The present nPDE describes nonlinear diffusion and is of interest in several parts of physics, chemistry and engineering problems alike. Since nature is not linear intrinsically the nonlinear case is t...
متن کاملDeformations of Lagrangian systems preserving a fixed subalgebra of Noether symmetries
Systems of second-order ordinary differential equations admitting a Lagrangian formulation are deformed requiring that the extended Lagrangian preserves a fixed subalgebra of Noether symmetries of the original system. For the case of the simple Lie algebra sl(2,R), this provides non-linear systems with two independent constants of the motion quadratic in the velocities. In the case of scalar di...
متن کاملApproximate spacetime symmetries and conservation laws
A notion of geometric symmetry is introduced that generalizes the classical concepts of Killing fields and other affine collineations. There is a sense in which flows under these new vector fields minimize deformations of the connection near a specified observer. Any exact affine collineations that may exist are special cases. The remaining vector fields can all be interpreted as analogs of Poi...
